Challenge: Heavy Content on an Isolated Network

A major airline faced the challenge of an outdated multimedia infrastructure onboard its aircraft. The main challenge was providing hundreds of passengers with simultaneous access to high-definition video content using local onboard servers with limited Wi-Fi bandwidth and no continuous connection to ground networks.

Solution: Smart Caching and Adaptive Streaming

The DCD team designed and implemented a software and hardware system for content delivery (CDN). We developed adaptive bitrate algorithms that automatically adjust video quality to the onboard network load, preventing freezing. Additionally, a background synchronization system was implemented: the aircraft's servers automatically update the film library and in-flight magazines during airport stops via secure communication channels.
